An Account of the Experience of Hester Ann Rogers
by Hester Ann Rogers
Hester Ann Rogers (1756-1794) of Macclesfield was a prominent early Methodist class leader, correspondent of John Wesley, and devotional writer whose self-written account became a model of piety circulated on both sides of the Atlantic. She married the Methodist preacher James Rogers and evangelized in Ireland.
The changed life
Raised in the Church of England, she converted to Methodism in November 1774 after hearing the preacher Samuel Bardsley. She went from a conventional churchgoing young woman to an influential Methodist leader, class teacher, and spiritual writer.
