T.S. Baker Books

About

The canon deserves a good edition

The greatest books ever written are free. You can download Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, or The Sea Wolf in seconds, at no cost, from any number of archives. So why would anyone pay for one?

Because “free” usually means a wall of unbroken text, broken hyphenation, mojibake quotation marks, and chapter breaks that land mid-sentence. The words are all there — but the edition is an afterthought. Reading it is a chore.

T.S. Baker Books exists to fix that. We take these towering works and give them the treatment a good publisher once would have: clean, considered typography; true small caps; balanced measure; proper chapter openers; covers and design that honour the book. The kind of edition that disappears around the story.

What you're buying

To be completely honest with you: the source texts are in the public domain, and we link to the free versions on every book's page. What you pay for is the craft — the formatting, design, and care that turn a raw text file into something a pleasure to read on your phone, tablet, or e-reader. If that's worth a few dollars to you, we'd be honoured to make your library a little more beautiful.

What's next

We're starting with the great adventures and expanding into philosophy, history, and the wider canon. Every new volume gets the same obsessive attention.
