Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
- Are these books really in the public domain?
- Yes. Works such as Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, and The Sea Wolf are long out of copyright. We link to a free source on every book's page. What you buy from us is our edition — the typesetting, design, and formatting — not exclusive access to the text.
- Then why pay for a book I can get free?
- Because free versions usually look it: walls of unbroken text, straight typewriter quotes, broken hyphenation, and chapter breaks landing mid-sentence. Our editions are carefully typeset for screens — true curly quotes, proper em dashes, drop-cap chapter openers, and a balanced measure — so reading is a pleasure rather than a chore.
- What format are the books?
- Every book is a clean EPUB file. EPUB is the standard ebook format and works on virtually every e-reader and reading app.
- What devices can I read on?
- Any EPUB-capable device: Apple Books (iPhone, iPad, Mac), Kobo, Google Play Books, most Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Kindle (by sending the EPUB to your device or via the Kindle app). The file is yours to keep, with no subscription.
- How do I get the book after I buy it?
- Instantly. After checkout you're shown a download link, and the same link is emailed to you. The link re-verifies your purchase each time, so you can come back and re-download whenever you need to.
- Can I get a refund?
- Because the books are delivered instantly, sales are generally final — but if a file is faulty, you were double-charged, or you bought the wrong title by mistake and haven't downloaded it, we'll fix it or refund you in full. See our Refund Policy for details.
- Who is T.S. Baker Books?
- An independent publisher of beautifully made digital editions of the Western canon's greatest works, formatted for the way people read today.
- Do you add new titles?
- Yes, regularly. We're starting with the great adventure classics and expanding into philosophy, history, and the wider canon, giving each new volume the same careful attention to typography and design.
