Greensbury Washington Offley, born in 1808 in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, to an enslaved mother and a free father, worked from boyhood and became self-supporting young. His brief narrative spans his years in the South and the North.
The changed life
Offley became a Methodist local preacher and missionary, and his narrative is rich with accounts of conversion, prayer, and salvation, closing with two hymns.
