Life and Journals of Kah-ke-wa-quo-na-by (Rev. Peter Jones), Wesleyan Missionary
by Peter Jones
Peter Jones (1802-1856), the Mississauga Ojibwe known as Kahkewaquonaby ("Sacred Waving Feathers"), became the first ordained Indigenous Methodist missionary in Canada. Drawn from his diaries and published posthumously, this volume follows his conversion, his preaching, and his labors among his people.
The changed life
Jones was converted in June 1823 at a camp meeting in Upper Canada and gave the rest of his life to the gospel — founding missions, translating Scripture and hymns into Ojibwe, and pleading the cause of his people before church and crown.
